The Right Place
DID YOU HAVE A GOOD IDEA UNTIL IT WASN’T? Today’s message contrasts the response and outcome of the betrayal of Jesus by Judas and Peter. Judas betrayed Jesus to those who would crucify him. Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. Judas had a hardened heart. Peter had a hard day. Judas went back to the priests to try to undo his betrayal of Jesus. Peter ran to Jesus from his fishing boat when he saw him on the shore. The place they went to with their guilt and shame had long-lasting implications. Judas hung himself in the “Field of Blood” that was purchased with the 30 pieces of silver. Peter went on to build the church and write books in the Bible.
Whatever pain you may be dealing with, do not go back to the same place where your pain was born – go to the feet of Jesus. Even if your guilt and shame are overwhelming, there is grace for forgiveness and reconciliation. The right place is at the feet of Jesus!
